Q: is a 1999-2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS or LT ext cab with 4.8 or 5.3 engine a good truck?
I really want to buy these kind of trucks hopefully with under 120k miles on it. Is it a good dependable truck overall?

A: i have a 2001 chevy 1500 z-71 ex cab. we purchased it a year ago and have only had to do the usual – oil changes and change the brake pads/shoes. it had 68,000 miles on it when we got it and now it has 102,000. if this helps, we paid $16,900.00 for it. we could have gotten it cheaper i think, but in my area, we jumped on it cuz 4×4’s are kinda hard to come by here. now the gas milage is a different story… in the winter we get around 21-22 mpg and in the summer with running the a/c, we get around 18 -19 mpg :>(
i guess it’s about average with a 4×4 though. keep in mind that the newer models – sometimes when buying new parts it can cost more – the newer models can sometimes only be worked on through a dealer rather than working on them yourself depending on the part that needs work – alot of the parts can only be purchased through a dealer cuz of the parts stores not caring the parts (for instance when we had the oil changed, the part store didn’t care the air filter) however, now advance auto does care one and it cost about 50.00, but has a lifetime warranty.
overall, we like the truck, but if we had it to do over again, we’d try to go with one that has the 4 full doors. our truck has 4 doors, but the back 2 are what i call half doors, lol… the 4 full doors are a big advantage if you have a family. also, on some of these trucks, a heater will come on the transmission to get it heated up quicker. they have several cool things that i like about them. and taxes cost 249.00 per year and insurance cost around 750.00 per year.

hope this info helps…

Q: What are your opinions on the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Regular cab LT?

A: Nice truck if you can feed it. I’d be most worried about resale.

Q: how many miles per gallon does a 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 gets?
My future truck will be a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT ext. cab with a 5.3L V8. They say it will get 16 mpg in the city and 20 in the highway. If anyone who owns this kind of truck, please tell me what you get on yours. Thanks!

A: I know people have been able to get better than 20 with them on the highway. It all depends on what rear end ratio you have though. If it’s one that had been ordered with a rear end for towing, you won’t get very good milage, or at least probably never better than 18, which still isn’t bad for a full sized pickup.

Q: What is a good offer for a new 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
I’m getting it new out of a dealer. What should I offer if it is LS? and if it is LT?

A: The new sale is for supplier price less rebate. There is not a lot of room to haggle on the trucks at that price. If you can get an extra $300 off the price you will have done well.

Q: What in dash video stereo can I have in my truck?
What in dash video stereo can I have in my 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Z71 with OnStar Bose Speakers, and XM Satellite radio? All I have found say my door chimes, XM, and OnStar won’t work if I install them. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went to crutchfield. Thats where I got the information about XM etc. not working.

A: go to crutchfield.com they usually have direct fitments for particular vehicles

Q: Any opinions on this truck?
2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab LT 4×2. Any thoughts on it? Previous experiences or anything of that sort would help. Thank you.

A: I have a 2004 2500 4×4 with 89K overall has been a good truck, rides & handles great, has plenty of power but only 13.5 mpg. Two problems however. #1 the steering rattle / knocking noise as mention in the other posts it seems that 75% of people that I talk to with Chevy trucks has this problem after about 25K miles. Occurs at low speed while turning wheel. The #2 problem I had was when it was new the wipers would come on and you could not turn them off. I shook the steering wheel half dozen times when it happened and that would turn them off. After a few times it stopped coming on by themselves. Chevy offers a lot more standard options than Ford and Chevy has more power than Ford, etc. I bought a 2006 Ford F150 King Ranch kept it one year hated it. I would drive the Chevy and leave the Ford in the garage. Few months ago traded the Ford in and got a 07 Tundra Limited fully loaded, you cannot believe the power this thing has, 16.9 mpg. So far the Tundra has been great. I will keep the Chevy until it dies, I use the Chevy as my work truck.

Q: Is this a good deal?
2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab LT 4×2 with 25K miles for $23,988? Still under factory warranty.

A: Thats a very good deal. I would buy that truck tonight!
