is the chevrolet avalanche good for off-roading and snow conditions????

A: Define good…

It will do just fine off road. Well, at least where 80% of the population would ever go off road. The front suspension (IFS) does not have a lot of suspension travel, and poor articulation. What that means is that it will be harder to keep a tire on the ground in uneven terrain (a tire in the air will not help propel the vehicle).

The front axle shafts (CV shafts) are the weakest point, and if you break one, you’re walkin home (the shaft also holds the hub assembly). But don’t be afraid, they will hold up to more than most people would ever dream of doing.

In snow they are great. I am very happy with the handling characteristics of my truck, but I believe that tires and vehicle weight are a larger factor than what the vehicle actually is.

The Z71 doesn’t help the truck’s offroad capability much. The package includes heavier duty shocks, a front differential skid plate, a small transfer case skid plate, and a fuel tank skid plate. The G80 locking rear differential may or may not be included on the truck. So the skid plates help protect…

A: Of course you can. My father has the first year of it. It comes off in sections. Just turn the handles and bingo. Off it comes. Not a permanant thing. Just an add-on. Kind of like a soft top on a Jeep. On and off whenever you want.

There is a Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 with a 8.1 big block V8 engine. I really want to know how many miles a gallon it gets.

A: i have a gmc 1500 c3 with a 6.0 awd and i only get 15 mpg with it so u can only amagine what u will get with a 8.1 also check ur rearend gear ratio that makes a big difference

Q: How do I install RCA and remote wires into the stock head unit in an 07 chevrolet avalanche?
I just bought a system for my avalanche but I don’t want to buy a new head unit.There aren’t any outputs for RCA wires in the back of the stock head unit. Is there a way to tie those in somewhere else in order to take the bass signal to the amp? Also, what’s the best way to wire up my remote wire to the unit?

Q: Why does my 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche squeal when I turn?
When I turn my Avalanche squeals. It is loud enough you can hear it in or out of the truck. I have taken it to the dealership just for them to say it is my tires. I do not think that is the case. What gives?

A: Does it do it when you aren’t moving and turn the wheel? If not it probably is the tires.

A: Lets see…a 4200lb car with a 5.7 V8 versus a 5700lb+ truck with a V-8. I think the Impala would win unless the driver is terrible.

Is it a good sturdy vehicle? Also, what are we looking at gas mileage wise? I’ve heard it was underpowered and sluggish, is this true? Is the Z71 package worth it?

A: The avalanche is a wonderful choice for a truck/suv. It is nowhere near underpowered. It’s pretty quick for it’s size. And I would just go for the Z66 to save on gas because the Z71 is an off road package and people rarely take avalanche’s off road anyway.

A: It opens the bed into the cab to create a fullsized truck bed. Closed it is a 5/6 passenger SUV with a 5ft bed. Thus giving you the advantage of two vehicles.

A: that all depends on where you go or if you do it yourself. to do it yourself it may run you at least 1200 for 2 coats of primer, paint, and clear coat. At a shop it could be anything…

For about the same price as a Haynes or Chilton’s repair manual, you can have online access (for a whole year) to model specific info for your particular vehicle. This is the same info that repair shops use. They have great wiring schematics/diagrams.

Q: Is it hard to drive a Chevrolet Avalanche because of its size?
Well i’m not really a tall guy i stand 5′5″ i’m use to driving sedans and hatchbacks but i wanted to buy a truck. but i’m quite nervous because i have never driven a truck before but i like how it provides excellent convience for outdoor activities.

A: Depends on if your a good driver, bigger vehicle is going to be harder to maneuver in some situations. My first vehicle when i was 16 was a 2000 silverado 1/2 ton 5.3. The avalanche you are looking at has a lot of the same parts including the engine etc and is about the same size and weight etc. When i was 16 i was probably about 5′3” or so and i had no problems except i felt a little small in it sometimes. No reason to be nervous, you’ll notice a difference but anyone can drive one
