Q: how much does it cost to produce a volkswagen new beetle?
Does anyone know or have an estimate the variable/fix costs to produce a Volkswagen New Beetle in 1998 or any year for that matter? How much was it sold for when it first came out?
If this information is not available, what’s the usual margin that small-cars usually have?
A: if a car is for sale at MSRP $20,000 the company NOT the dealer makes roughly $5,000 on each car. varies on makes and model
Q: Where can I find an ad for the Volkswagen New Beetle?
In the 1990’s there was a print ad for the Volkswagen New Beetle that said: “0-60? Yes”. Can you please help me locate that ad in print or digitally?
A: Try thesamba.com, or YouTube.
Q: Is it easy to repair average mechanical problems in a 2002 Volkswagen New Beetle?
I’m shopping for my first car, and my dad wants me to get a car that he would be able to repair himself when minor mechanical issues occur. My dad is good with cars and he’s basically saying that if I have to take my car to a shop every single time there are minor problems, he doesn’t want me to get it. So my question is, are 2002 Volkswagen New Beetles capable of being self-repaired? Ten points to the best answer!
A: The whole VW line is much easier to work on than Japanese cars, because the Japanese cars don’t use consistent parts, suppliers, or designs. Japanese cars change constantly, and are designed with a short life span in mind.
In contrast, VW always uses consistent parts, so there are lots of 3rd party suppliers.
However, the Beetle is a little tight in the engine compartment.
If your father wants to work on it, I would suggest something like the Golf instead.
I think it is a little easier to get at things.
But all VWs are easily repaired by the owner.
Q: I need information on the volkswagen new beetle and the new beetle convertable before buying it?
In two years, for my seventeenth birthday, i am going to be paying for half of my car and i need as much information on the beetle and beetle convertable as i can get. i already decided that i want the volkswagen beetle for the looks, gas mileage, and to just have a fun car, but i still want to get all the pros and cons of it. i have been doing a lot of research on it, but the research is different than actual life experience, and that is where i need the help. i want to know everything that anyone can tell me about it. i do also want to know if there is a better car to have as your first car between the beetle and the convertable. i also know that there is an option of a manual or semi maunal top for the convertable and wanted to know how practical they were. i am working on a small budget, so as much as i would like to add a bunch of accessories to the car, i probably will not be able to, so i just want to know about the regular car itself. thank you all sooo much for your help!
A: In my experience, Volkswagen Beetles are amazing cars!! So far I have had two. A 2001 Beetle, that never failed me! I never had a single problem with my bug. In just 8 months I put over 20,000 miles on it! ( I love to drive!) I kept up with getting my oil changes and regular maintenance. I now have a 2007 Volkswagen beetle convertible, also a great car! I now have around 7,000 miles on it, and have yet to have a problem with it. I am about to drive in (in a couple weeks) to Chicago which is about 1,000 miles from where I live and I know my beetle will not have any problems! Beetles are very reliable and affordable cars! not to mention CUTE! On my convertible I have the automatic top, it works great. Beetles are very very safe cars, so they are great for a first car or a inexperienced driver! Good luck searching for the perfect bug for you! I hope you’ll love yours as much I have loved both of mine! As long as I’m driving, I can honestly say I will drive a beetle until it becomes to small of a car, then I will continue driving Volkswagens! Enjoy your Beetle!
Q: Does anyone else have a Volkswagen New Beetle with LOTS of problems?
I have a 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle that has had problems since the day I bought it used. Although I love this car, I am SICK of going to the dealer every few months with “check engine” or some faulty wiring or airflow meter or you name it. I have spent literally thousands of dollars on repairs. Anyone else with these problems? Are the newer models any better?
A: I had a 2001 VW Bug with 60 thousand miles on it, only one problem with my knob to turn the heat level and air level up. But no big problems.
I also have a 2006 VW Bug with 1600 miles on it, i know its not alot of mile, but still have had no absolutely no problems with it. they drive smoother and better than my 01 bug.
If you’re going to get a bug, I’d get a newer one instead of putting all this money into you’re used on.
Good Luck:)
Q: Is it difficult to get repairs done on a new Volkswagen beetle?
I want to get a new Volkswagen beetle (preferably a 2000-2003 model). But my uncle says that is is very hard to get work/repairs done on them. I don’t know if this is true, but it kinda seems unlikely. But I need some legit proof that this is either true or not true. Thanks!
A: if the mechanics you go to only know how to fix a ford or chev yeah then it is hard to get it fixed by them. But, I don’t go to a domestic mechanic to fix an imported car. my Ferrari you no touch. I am pretty sure there is more than just hammer mechanics in your town. Seeing VW has been in NA since the mid 50’s there are a quite a few garages that know how to fix them. Still with the newer ones, I would go to VW dealer just because they have the parts at hand. The other places order the parts from the dealer and then add “their overhead” for using the phone to get the part onto the price.
Q: What is the launch date of New Volkswagen Beetle?
I wanna purchase a new Volkswagen Beetle, please any one tell me that when will launch in Indian Market?
A: VW India is scheduled for early dec. 09, or you can expect early in10, anyhow it’s just few weeks away.
Q: Is it expensive to get a minor fix on a Volkswagen New Beetle?
I’m looking into getting a Volkswagen New Beetle, but someone told me that even minor repairs cost about $500!! Is that true…. i’d also like any pro’s and con’s that you might have experienced if you own one! Thank you!!
A: Well, it depends on what sort of repair you require. After spending 25 years on/off in Volkswagen dealership service departments, I can tell you that some simple repairs do take a little labour to repair.
One respondent said labour is $80-100 per hour, I wish it were that low here in the San Francisco Bay Area; the local dealerships here run from $125 to 150.00 per hour of labour and independent shops run from $80-120 per hour of labour.
The issue with some items is the shape of the body, which limits access to some common items that require attention: i.e., headlight bulbs, fog light lenses, tail light bulbs, some repairs in the engine compartment etc… Although the NEW Beetle is built on the platform of the 2 door Golf (previous generation), the curves on the fender, hood, trunk (boot) lid and shape of the trunk (boot) can make access to items more difficult, that especially true on turbo versions of the New Beetle.
Having said that, I’ve never seen normal minor repairs cost ($500) that amount even at the labour rate of $125.00 per hour (that’s what it was when I left VW in December 05).
The main thing is that you maintain the vehicle as per factory requirements and understand the “German” way of thought.
As an example, never reach over from the drivers side of the vehicle to open the glove box. If you do that you will eventually break the glove box latch and or hinges on the door. You must open the door only by sitting in front of the glove box using the middle two fingers of your hand and grabbing the handle using one finger on either side of the lock cylinder on the handle. Now, I suppose, that makes things difficult, but if you understand the culture, then the vehicle will be as reliable as any other. European cars in general don’t take kindly to maintanance that isn’t followed exactly as described in the owner’s manual.
I understand the culture behind the design and can work with it; I’ve had the Italian Fiats and never had the problems that many people had because I understood the design, maintanance, and culture behind the vehicle.
I hope this helps, a car nut.
Q: What are the pro’s and con’s of the new Volkswagen Beetle?
I am looking at maybe getting a new car, and have had my eye on the VW’s (particularly the new beetle) for quite a while. However, I hear they’re a real nightmare in terms of reliability-can anyone argue against this? If not, can anyone tell me what kind of troubles they’ve had with them?
A: i have a 2005 new beetle convertible and i love it. the pros are great gas mileage, easy to manage in traffic and fun to drive. the cons are with the top up there is a tremendous blind spot and seems other drivers tend to run me over (mostly suv’s and minivans).
Q: how do I change a headlight in a 2003 Volkswagen New Beetle?
Need instructions on how to get the old bulb out, and does anyone know about this beetle’s door chimes?
A: Depending on which headlight it is, it can be very difficult (i.e., the one nearest the battery is a problem). Find one of the VW owners groups and search there. They’ll have a step-by-step instructions. I found it that way once.
Q: Does the new Volkswagen Beetle come in white?
On their website, their display is white, but when I build one, white isn’t a color option. The older versions of the new beetle came in white ..
A: It does but only as a limited edition. Its called triple white. They only made so many of them and that was it. If interested try your local dealer and maybe they can locate one for you. Good Luck!
Q: Volkswagen new beetle burned on the side door?
i just bought a 2001 Volkswagen new beetle it has a metal on the top of the door i burn my arm when ever i seat in the car due the the metal in the sun is there a away to cover the door or maybe a trim kit to fix this?
A: If you are talking about that chrome strip at the top, then yes, something can be done as this is a common problem.
There is aftermarket bits which fit perfectly over these metal strip and they come in different Colour from Matt black to body Colour.
You could also take the car to a re-finishers and get them to paint it in the colour of your choice.
Q: How can I convert my 1999 Volkswagen New Beetle to battery power?
A: the only way convert a car from gas to hybrid is to do it your self. you need a good knowledge of all systems and know how to fabricate your own parts. it is very time consuming and very expensive
Q: Why is the Volkswagen New Beetle switching to 4-cyl engines in 2010 or 2011 from the current 5-cyl engine?
Is there something wrong with the 5-cylinder engines?
A: they probably think it’s cheaper, and it probably is. Also, making an inline 4 is easier than an inline 5, and it’s most popular, and better gas mileage. The list goes on.
Q: Can you fit an infant car seat in a Volkswagen new beetle convertible?
I’m looking at cars and if a baby popped into my future I’d like to know how easy it would be to accomodate it, at least for a while?
A: yes
