Q: mustang convertible ?
Where online can i look up a price for a deluxe convertible mustang wothout giving my information ?
I have alredy tried cars.com and autotrader.com

A: Go to ebaymotors.com and just start looking at the prices that they are selling for. Or you can go to kelly blue book (kbb.com).

Q: Where can I find a stock mustang convertible top for 2002?
I might be buying a mustang convertible that just needs a new top to look good.

Where can I find a top that is the same that they come with stock? [Or a better looking one without it being too expensive]

Its tan.
Well I can’t find anything else thats nice around here.

A: Just type “convertible tops” into google and you’ll get dozens of options.

The top itself is pretty cheap but install costs a fortune and it’s way more work than the average do it yourselfer can handle.

Plan on about $1,200 installed.

Secondarily, are you sure you want that car? Mustangs of that age are garbage. (Current owner of a 2000 mustang convertible with 92,000 miles.)

Q: Mustang Convertible?
I was thinking about getting the newer mustang but as a convertble but before i do is the top durable or will i be replacing it some time soon?

A: all tops need a replacement sometime…it all depends how u take care of it

Q: Can I park my Mustang convertible outside during the winter?
I have a ‘99 Mustang convertible, and the house we’re moving into has no garage. Will I be able to park it outside during the winter? We only get snow 5-7 times per winter here, and as long as there’s not snow or ice on the roads, I drive the car daily.
My main concern in the top – is that material made to withstand snow and ice? Will it damage it?

A: Yes you can park it outside in the snow. They sell a lot of verts in the northern parts of the country and I see them daily even when its snowing. Personally I think that the tops get dirty much faster if driven in the winter because of the increase in road grime. Just wash your car regularly as you would in the summer and you should be alright.

Q: How much would a new convertible top be for my 06 mustang?
I purchased my mustang convertible and it has a tan roof, but it is stained and the thread is starting to come out. I want to get a black top. About how much does a new convertible top cost?

A: Anywhere between 1500 and 2000. Depending on who does it and what quality of top they use. You realize that the back window is a seperate part from the top. If you change colors that will need to be replaced as well. You might consider buying some fabric dye and coloring it yourself. Either that or park it on a dark street and hope someone cuts it. The insurance will pay for it then.

Q: Is it possible to turn a Classic Mustang Coupe into a Convertible?
I’ve always wanted the Mustang Convertible.

I’ve noticed that good Convertibles are much more expensive than good Coupes.

Is it possible to turn Coupe into a Convertible? Or would it be too costly?

Please don’t yell at me for wanting to butcher a classic car (which I have not done), I was only wondering if anyone knew how expensive this type of thing would be.

A: It is not possible. A convertible has much more bracing then a coupe. This bracing keeps the frame and body from flexing and keeps the car rigid. If you simply cut the top off a coupe you’d be left with a very unstable vehicle.

The cost of making it right would be much more than simply buying a ragtop to begin with.

Q: How much would a 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible and a 1963 Mercury Comet cost?
How much would these two cars cost? A 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible and a 1963 Mercury Comet. I want to know the price for each seperately. If you can, give me some links.

Q: How do I fix the button on my Mustang convertible?
I have a 2004 Mustang convertible and the button that opens the top was broken. I removed the button and cleaned the sand out of it. Now I want to put it back. Does anyone know where I can find a diagram of how it goes together?

A: It isn’t free but alldata.com has them.

Q: We just purchased a 1983 Mustang Convertible. What is the best thing to use for sealing up the window drafts?
Open air spaces where water shoots through, at car wash, and very noisy with the draft coming in on the highway. I assume that we replace the weather stripping, but I have been searching for any specialty products that may do the best possible job of sealing up this 1983 Ford Mustang Convertible.

A: I had one of those and had the same problem! First check to see that the top seats properly. The hinge bearings inside the trunk may be worn causing it not to sit on the windshield properly especially if the metal alignment points are missing on the tops frame. Make sure the locks are adjusted properly. It is possible to tighten the hold down hooks by loosing the lock nut and turning them clockwise, just remember to resecure the lock nut. If all else fails, there is no replacement for new seals than new seals. There worth the money and they eliminate the dreaded Chinese water torture.

Q: Can I use a mustang convertible top motor to replace one for an old impala?
I have a 1968 impala convertible that the motor does not work. A buddy told me I could use any motor for the top… suggested using one from a mustang since they are abundant and less expensive than the original units. Is a convertible top motor the same (excluding dimensions) as any convertible top motor?

A: What nobody here has thought of or told you is that it is just not the Motor. You have a Motor that pumps Hydraulic fluid, most of the time regular ATF Fluid, and you have two (2) Hydraulic Cylinders that raise and lower the top. If you do not hear the motor, then it is probably shot. If you hear it, it may not be pumping the required pressure or the cylinders may be shot and need replacing. You need to find out which it is.
A motor runs about $249, and a Pair of cylinders run around $269.
Some of the Chevy’s had a scissor top mechanism which was like a screw jack for raising and lowering and others had a pump motor with hydraulic cyliners. Also the Impala is a larger car and a heavier top so the pressure on it if it does have a pump may be higher than the one on the Mustang with a lighter top and a pump without as much pressure. If you could connect it, it might blow the packings out of the hydraulic cylinders on your mustang. I will give you a few sites you can go to and look up the parts.

Q: Do any of the 2010 mustang convertibles come in a hardtop convertible?
I was going to buy a mustang and was wondering if they make a hardtop convertible.
Thanks!

A: No however I think they might have glass tops like the 2009. The 20-10’s are NiiiiiiCeeee!!!! If I could I’d get one but I’m savin up for the 50th anniversary. I have a 2004 40th anniversary mustang. I’m buyin brand new special ordering that pony! Yaaaaa!!! =)

Q: I want to buy a 1960s Mustang Convertible, SUSPENSION QUESTION?
I finally have all my finances in order and I want to buy a 1966 or 1967 Mustang Convertible. I find that the straight 6 cylinders are much cheaper. I always wanted to build a powerful Ford Straight 6 300 motor. People tell me that the 6 cylinder Mustangs do not have the same suspension as the 8. What does it take to beef up the suspension? I want to keep it a 6, but I want to put in a powerful one, and change the transmission to a T-5 Tremec manual. I know this is all do-able, I just don’t know about the suspension part.

Personal expierence is always a plus!
I know the 300 6 isnt in the Mustang. Im getting it out of a F-150. I know about 6=8, Im using them for parts. I just need to know what I need to do to beef up the suspension.

A: You can use a lot of Mustang SVO, Lincoln and Ranger front end parts, also the old standby, Mustang ll, Granada and Fairmonts. You’ll want a rack and pinion too. I would recommend a subframe connector and rally bar for the engine bay.

or you could go with all old stuff from a v8 car, but I would recommend disc brakes. You can use a old parts catalog to see what is v8. Just about everything was upgraded between the 6 and 8

some will tell you it can’t be done, but I have seen it done. It’s just a real tight fit between the water pump and radiator.

I’ve been planing on building one myself and have most everything.

Here are two of my groups, let us know your progress

Q: Rear window fix for a 95 mustang convertible?
I have a 95 mustang convertible. It has a glass rear window. The window has either been popped, pried, or just knocked out. However, the glass is perfect. I just need to now what type of sealant i need to bond it back to my top, or what it will take to bond it. Thanks for your help.

A: This is a common problem with many cars.
It is delamination.
If the window is loose in spots, it can often be repaired with urethane adhesive like glass shops use for windshields.
If the glass is more than 30% delaminated, chances of fixing it are slim.
With the glass all the way out, you need a new window.
The top and window are separate on your car so can be replaced individually.
Installation instructions for the top and/or window can be found here http://www.topgunwon.com/DVD/

Q: how do you replace the back speakers of a 2000 mustang convertible?
i went to an auto place and they said i must remove the back seats and then remove the back side panels.

Not sure if this is accurate or not. but even so, i can not figure out how to remove the back seat, let alone the side panels.

can someone explain?
or send me to website that may help.

thanks a bunch.
TRBMan

again, it is a 2000 ford mustang convertible with the mach sound system.

A: There are two clips holding the seat cushion down. Get a small to medium sized screwdriver and slid it in between the seat cushion and the carpet. There are two buttons(one on each side)press the buttons with the screwdriver and pull up on the seat. Once both latches are released the seat cushion comes right out.

After the seat cushion is out you will see two bolts holding the seat back on. The bolts are located at the bottom edge(one on each side). Remove both bolts and pull up on seat back, it should slide out(may take a little wiggling to get past the seat belts).

Next remove the trim piece at the bottom of the door openings. They’re held by clips so pull up carefully.

The rear quarter panels are held in by push pins and clips, so all you need to do is remove all the push pins, disengage the clips and it should come right out. The speakers should now be in plain view.

Q: I need to sell my 1999 mustang convertible quickly, what would be the best way to do that?
I have a 1999 Ford Mustang convertible. I am trying to sell it quickly because my family needs the money, but I also don’t want to sell it for too much less than what it is worth. What is the best way to get it sold? It is in excellent condition and only has 70,000 miles on it, and the rag top was just replaced last year (which cost $2700) and it has a brand new brake system.

A: well first find out what they selling for go to ebay type in same car info then price it cheaper and place add in paper and online like craigslist an d wait
